I think his name was actually Thelonius Valentinius or something like that. The thing that has stuck with me 65 years later is the milk bottle example--something about how to get an empty milk bottle and TV races all over town to get one when the boss said, just buy a full one and pour the milk out (much less costly than going all over creation to find an empty one).
