SUPERMAN Movies Article at Film Score Monthly

Film Score Monthly's Web site has a good overview of the Superman movies by Scott Bettencourt, beginning with 1978's SUPERMAN: THE MOVIE, and finishing with the latest.

[Spoilers follow:]

Even if you're not interested in the now-iconic Williams' score originally composed for the first movie, and reused to lingering effect in SUPERMAN RETURNS, the FSM entry is a good read about the strengths and weaknesses of the plots. The movies all had a few holes in them, but the first one was a landmark flick for 1978. There had never been a mainstream big budget Hollywood superhero movie. Kinda hard to remember that!

There are some good insights into SUPERMAN RETURNS, including the fact that Clark never got established as a nerd (an important component to the character), the movie was too long and Lois and Clark/Supes generate little heat. And, hey, doesn't Lois KNOW that Superman is Clark Kent? I mean, they had a kid and all!

O.K., but really ... I'll 'fess up:

This is all just an excuse just to run this titillating cover to an old LOIS LANE comic. Like you didn't all ready figure that out!
