Charles Schulz Interview 1985
Charles Schulz and actress daughter Jill on a local morning talk show promoting the premiere of the CBS special IT'S FLASHBEAGLE, CHARLIE BROWN. About a minute in, Jill becomes the focus. She was the animators' model for Peppermint Patty's aerobics dance in the special. Then the audience asks more questions to Mr. Schulz. There is a funny confession in the last minute of snippet.
Since Flashbeagle originally aired April 16, 1984, this was probably aired prior to that date, but the YouTube poster put the date at 1985.
Nice interview. I attended many of the ice shows Jill mentioned, and it became a great Christmas tradition for our family. They stopped doing them a couple of years ago; after Mr. Schulz died, the spark just seemed to leave the whole event. Even though he had little to do with their day-to-day operation, the ice show was obviously his baby, and no one else had his passion or pull to keep them going. Sad.
ReplyDeleteI found it funny that the male interviewer, Ross McGowan, was the same guy who interviewed me on another station's morning talk show earlier this year, twenty-some years after the Schulz interview. He's been a S.F. Bay Area fixture for a long time. I guess he likes the cartoonist beat. Very nice man, a real pro who made it easy for me.
Thanks for the mention in your earlier post. I'm a believer in getting the work out there anyway you can and, if it's good, an audience and market will find it. As long as you're not stupid about it....
