The Garden As of May 1, 2011

Subtitle: move along, nothing to see here (yet).

Except the pines, little green on the trees yet.

A week ago, there were a couple of inches of snow over all this.

The front yard perennial garden. They are growing FAST. The hummingbirds came back April 29th!

The raised beds. You can see how rutted the driveway is (lower left). Gotta take care of that.

Red tree buds against the blue, blue sky.

Nice views of part of a beautiful state. When I think of Vermont, I think of ONE thing...TREES, and lots of 'em.

I like the RD book this time. Its in a easy to buy, easy to carry shape.

I had to practically break a few legs to squeeze out my copies that were owed to me.not sure what was up with that.

Is it just me or are you using color differently than you used to. Your cartoons seem to each have a main color with dapplings of other colors. Good approach.
It helps in distinguishing your work. What are you using?

  2. Thx for the kind words, Dan. We live in NH, though.

LAUGHTER REALLY IS THE BEST MEDICINE really turned out terrific.

We can get free copies??? News to me. I'll have to look at the contract again. Thx for the heads up.

And thx (3rd time) for your comment on my color technique. I am fortunate to know Sandy Kossin, a prolific illustrator of book covers. I never liked coloring and Sandy, having done hundreds and hundreds of paperback book covers in the 60s and 70s, gave me some great advice. He told me to pick 1-2 colors. Just use a couple of hues of each color. It looks good and is quicker.

Isn't New Hampshire in Vermont? LOL. I can't see the border for the trees.

Funny thing is I'm actually playing, presently with a new technique. Though everyone thinks I presently use water color (I don't), I've recently began using WATER COLOR. I work some pastel into it and I'm still in the experimental (do I like it yet) stage.
Hope you're feeling better. I'll bet it has something to do with the trees.
