"What Should a Library Mean to Young People?"

Children's Librarian Marguerite Hart was there when the very first library opened in Troy, Michigan. She was their first Children's Librarian. Ms. Hart wrote to celebrities and authors, asking them to comment on her question: "What Should a Library Mean to Young People?" Above is Dr. Seuss' response to the children of Troy.

Ninety Seven others replied, including E.B. White, Edward Ardizzone, Dr. Benjamin Spock, Rowan & Martin, Isaac Asimov, Neil Armstrong, Spiro Agnew, Pierre Trudeau and others.

All of the letters are the Troy Library web site.
