Home Movies: Al Capp's Dogpatch USA

Below is a 90 second 8mm home movie from Cedar Crest Studio of people enjoying themselves at the Dogpatch USA theme park in Marble Falls, Arkansas. The park, based on the LI'L ABNER comic strip, opened in 1968 and closed in 1993.

The park is still there, but it's been abandoned to nature and vandals for years. Apparently, you may be able to spy the statue of Dogpatch founder General Jubilation T. Cornpone, the centerpiece of the park, rising from the kudzu and rubble. The history of the park is here.

  1. Hey, Mike! Glad you posted this clip. I've had MANY comments on Facebook regarding this clip and the memories it has invoked on so many folks who grew up in these parts and visited the theme park in their youth.
