Boris Drucker 1920-2009 UPDATED

Gag cartoonist Boris Drucker died of a stroke on Thursday, January 15, 2008 at the Hahnemann University Hospital, in Philadelphia, PA. He was 88.

The Philadelphia Inquirer has an obituary:

"In 2000, Mr. Drucker told an Inquirer reporter that as a freelance artist, 'I've had tremendously good years and tremendously bad years. But I've never had a bad afternoon, thanks to the pleasure and therapy cartooning gives me.'"

Boris Drucker drew the above art from the November 14, 1953 issue of The Saturday Evening Post. Drucker was in all the big markets and was, just last week, working on a Playboy finish.

Syracuse University had a major exhibition of his work in 2005. He was one of the six Jewish WW II soldiers featured in the recent documentary FROM PHILADELPHIA TO THE FRONT.
