Barmate is an undated, full color drink mixing guide that may have been a pull-out insert in a magazine like Esquire or Playboy. There are a number of cartoons by the leading gag cartoonists of the day: R. Taylor (the cover, above), as well as William O'Brian, Charles E. Martin, Syd Hoff, Bernard Wiseman, William Steig, Eldon Dedini, and Virgil "VIP" Partch.

Perhaps distributed through liquor stores, a premium with purchase or the equivalent of a free calendar? At that time, would this have been labeled as a "Special Advertising Feature" in a magazine?
