Spain Rodriguez 1940-2012
Underground comics creator Spain Rodriguez died at his home in San Francisco on November 5, 2012. He was 72 years old. The cause was cancer.
Creator of "Trashman," and contemporary of seminal underground comics artists Robert Crumb, S. Clay Wilson and Bill Griffith, Mr. Rodriguez "was one of the seminal, in probably all meanings of that word, figures of the underground comics planet,” said Art Spiegelman in an audio interview in today's Buffalo Post.
