A wonderful surprise. I received this paperback collection EVEN MORE BARNABAS in the mail from my friend Adrian Sinnott. There was a note in it: "Found this in Oxfam on Marylebone High Street and thought you'd enjoy it." Adrian knows me well.
Barnabas was created by Graham Jeffrey, while spending about three years with the Anglican Bush Brotherhood of St. Barnabas in North Queensland. In 1968 (according to the back of the book; see below) he moved to to Eastbourne, Sussex to start a new parish.
There were at least three Barnabas collections. What makes this clerical comic unique is that is was written and drawn by an insider. Someone who was a reverend first and a cartoonist second. The humor is gentle and funny.
These cartoons are from EVEN MORE BARNABAS and is copyright 1969 by Graham Jeffrey.
