Everyone doodles, and someone somewhere, through the ages, has saved some of the doodles that the presidents have made.
The Atlantic shows a number of these, from Jefferson to George H.W. Bush, in an excerpt from the upcoming book PRESIDENTIAL DOODLES: TWO CENTURIES OF SCRIBBLES, SCRATCHES, SQUIGGLES AND SCRAWLS FROM THE OVAL OFFICE, published this month by Basic Books. It's also online at The Atlantic Web site for subscribers.
There are stories about the doodles; what was going on when the doodles ocurred, etc. Worth checking out, even if that means standing at the magazine stand and thumbing through an issue.
This is a doodle by Warren G. Harding.
