Australian TV has a great piece on George Sprod, who even if you don't know what on Earth a George Sprod is, then please oh please -- do take a look. His nephew, David Sprod, shows us many originals and talks about his uncle lying about his age to join the army, and his 3 1/2 years in a Japanese POW camp. George Sprod went to be a prolific cartoonist, best remembered for his PUNCH Magazine contributions.
The great thing, as David points out, was that he was a saver of all his work. A lot of it certainly looks funny and interesting and it remains to be seen whether Mr. Sprod might get a crack at a nice book, recounting his work and life. Hope so.
