Princeton, NJ: Arnold Roth Gallery Show
Princeton, NJ – On Saturday, March 24, 2012 from 4 – 6 PM, the Arts Council of Princeton
will present a free illustrated lecture and opening reception for its special exhibition “Arnold
Roth: A Selection of Work from Area Collections.” The lecture features celebrated cartoonist
Arnold Roth and will be followed by a reception where the public will have an opportunity to
meet Mr. Roth and have him autograph books of his work. The exhibition, featuring original
works by Roth on loan from Princeton collectors and friends of the artist, will be on view at
the Paul Robeson Center for the Arts from March 24 – April 7, 2012.
Arnold Roth, who resides in Manhattan but lived in Princeton from 1963 to 1984, has had
his cartoons appear in the New Yorker (including many covers), Esquire, Playboy, GQ, TIME,
Sports Illustrated, the New York Times, and many, many more. He has published six books
of cartoons and has illustrated books by such authors as George Plimpton, William F.
Buckley, Jr., and Clifton Fadiman. He has had solo exhibitions at numerous museums and
galleries and has appeared on the David Letterman Show, the Joan Rivers Show, and the
Today Show.
George Plimpton said of him: "Arnold Roth is surely the most imaginative and humorous
graphic artists of this or any other day."
