The conference addressed the importance of the First Amendment in a free and democratic society. Political Correctness/Fake News/The Editorial Function questioned whether individuals are self-censoring and engaging in polarized behavior, and what the media can do in response. The session examined how to appeal to all sides to inspire dialogue, how to prevent the spread of misinformation that is intended to harm and whether or not the rise of digital media plays a role in people’s reactions.
