The garden as of August 1, 2023. Despite copious rain and little sun for most of last month, the garden is doing OK. It’s nowhere near as bushy green as it should be, and deer have nibbled on the cucumbers, tomatoes and peppers. Used to be, the lazy deer kept to the valley, but now they’re up here on the ridge. (We live in the foothills of the White Mountains.) I will have to put up a fence like my much wiser neighbor. Still, they don’t eat the flowers, so that’s good.
