The raised beds have been emptied of the old, depleted dirt. Then, I place in a layer of mesh fencing, some cardboard, old logs and leaves. Yesterday, a big truck arrived and the garden compost/loam mix was delivered. Next: a big fence and planting.
Why the mesh, cardboard, logs and leaves?
We got woods nearby and the mesh and cardboard are there to keep any underground creeping tree roots out. The old logs and clippings will deteriorate and add to the soil nutrients. At least, this is my story and I’m sticking to it.
All filled fulla fresh compost!
