Thanks for that. I see the cartoonist is not actually intended to be James Thurber but someone in the same spirit. Wasn't there another TV series that went ahead and also based on Thurber?
I see now, 'James Munroe' was Thurber's alter ego in his work. The TV show I was thinking of was 'My World and Welcome to it'.https://www.google.com/search?q=my+world+and+welcome+to+it&rlz=1C1CHBF_en-GBAU1158AU1184&oq=my+world+and+welcome+to+it&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUqCggAEAAY4wIYgAQyCggAEAAY4wIYgAQyBwgBEC4YgAQyBwgCEAAYgAQyBwgDEAAYgAQyBwgEEC4YgAQyBwgFEAAYgAQyBwgGEAAYgAQyBggHEEUYPNIBCDU5ODdqMGo0qAIBsAIB8QXtXQCysGR97Q&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8#fpstate=ive&vld=cid:e93ca137,vid:Jg7dmOFwKVY,st:0
"My World and Welcome to It" spawned "The War Between Men and Women", a 1972 romcom from the same creators offering Jack Lemmon as yet another fully fictional character who happens to draw Thurber cartoons, but this time with Thurber's real life vision problems.
