ps: A good reminder for everyone to make sure they have an .htaccess file on their site's servers to prevent deep-linking of images as this bozo was doing.
When I see something as so ridiculous as this, my first reaction is...'it's a joke'...but I have to remember there are ppl like this. I had a woman, president and owner of a VERY successful chain of spas take my illustration from a magazine I did for a non profit group at the start of my career. She had her art dept lift it and use in it her print advertising for months before someone told me. We went to court. She refused to apologize. She blatantly said she had every right to it. The judge clearly explained to her, she did not. I was dumbfounded.
I hope you replied that you would indeed like for him to call his lawyer- and to expedite matters more efficiently, your lawyer would be in contact with him shortly to explain copyright laws.
Good grief. People. Always shiny and new to amaze me each day.
Why do I think this is some 17-19 year old kid who's parents gave him everything he wanted and taught him that the world was without disappointment? I see so many older teens/young adults these days that really have no concept of what life is really like... snowflake syndrome at it's finest.
I would put them all back but put stupid pictures in their place. Rude Fruit and featherless chickens etc. If he's as stupid as he seems he'd still contact his lawyer but it would make it much more fun when it got thrown out of court.
sometimes when i find people linking to images on my site, I will copy over the image with a different funny image. So instead of a cute furry doggy image they were stealing from my site, they get one of my friends mooning the world.
Though I have no doubt this is a joke, the reason it is so sickening as a cartoonist to read this is that you KNOW this sort of thought probably runs through the mind of the idiot pirates out there.
It's a joke, and an old one at that, I remember something similar from at least 10 years ago.
Still, good reminder to prevent hotlinking.
Incidentally, the Register published a story this week about somebody who had hotlinked an image to an eBay auction - once the person found out they changed it to something less favourable!

Gawd!!! I'm so hoping this is a joke. Otherwise, we're living in a scary world.
THE most amazingly stupid thing I ever read!
Please tell me you answered to the guy e-mail!
It made my day.
The People at Cosmic Debris (Emily The Strange Fame) are doing something similar!
I am just speachless.
Yeah, this is a joke ... do a google search for "my concern is that if you do not upload the images again"
WOW! It takes all kinds, doesn't it?!
That must be fake, otherwise it's total ignorance.
wow, I don't know if I laugh or cry. Anyways take care man, he is upset and he will sue you!

HEHEH Yes I agree, replace the image with a different one. It always makes for a good joke between friends.
100% ridiculous

If he can afford a lawyer, the he can afford to pay for your drawings, bur really what you should do is get his address and burn it down.

That's a good business! using images for free and generating revenues by suing the people who created them! :-)
I saw the exactly same email go around few years back. I would still like to know if it was a troll or actually someone serious.
