I know young people who love old movies. One of the reasons is that this is the time before CGI, when movie effects were done with mirrors, paintings and models. A primary designer and modelmaker for the Gerry Anderson Century 21 Films (Thunderbirds, Journey to the Far Side of the Sun, etc.) was Mike Trim. Here he is talking about his start in the industry and working with the Andersons. What's interesting is that he talks about working up from drawings to models, and the perils of having painted cardboard sets "wilt" under the hot lights.
