1974 Pursettes Tampon Comic Strip Ad by Mort Drucker

In addition to his work on Mad Magazine, Mort Drucker also commissioned to draw movie posters and advertisements. Here's one from a series of 1970s ads for "Pursettes Tampons." These were all drawing in comic book style, but I don't think they were ever published in a comic book. The ads most likely appeared in magazines like Cosmopolitan or Seventeen. Pursettes were the stealth tampons. They were smaller than the tampons that might spill out of a woman's purse, causing her to to have to "get this tampon out of sight!" The ads banked on the concept of embarrassment about carrying tampons around.
