New Comic Book Day

Boy at a newsstand, 1954.

"Comic books in their present form are the absence of thought. They are, in fact, the greatest intellectual narcotic on the market .... Every hour spent in reading comics is an hour in which all inner growth is stopped." -- Marya Mannes in The New Republic, 1948

Hey, it's Wednesday! It's over sixty years later and this is still the day the new comic books come out!

As you probably all ready know, Sam Henderson at his The Magic Whistle blog has been doing a series of MAD imitations from the 50s and 60s. In addition, he's been scanning in many international editions of MAD.
