Video: Who Is DOCTOR WHO?

At the end of the last broadcast episode of DOCTOR WHO, Dorium (the big blue guy) has the last words, the words that seem to set up what the next season's story arc will encompass.

"The first question! The question that must never be answered! Hidden in plain sight! The question you've been running from all your life! 'Doctor Who.' 'Doctor Who.' 'Doctor Who!'"

Perhaps it may be the 50th anniversary theme; the "first" question, from the series premiere on November 23, 1963.

VG934 has constructed an fan-short that is a lot of fun. The BBC should grab this and air it:

Video: I Built a TARDIS

From Sillysparrowness, here is her video diary of building a TARDIS from scratch in her basement.

Hang on. Take a look. This woman deserves her own show.

Like NeLieLsCrazy writes in the YouTube comments:

At first I was like: 16 minutes? I'm not gonna watch a video that long. And then I ended up puking rainbows. You're awesome!

Puking rainbows = funny and awesome.

Doctor Who Timeline

Above: a small detail of the Doctor Who Timeline Infographic.

When a show that premiered in 1963, had eleven lead actors in succession, 223 adventures, 46 companions (which includes an android and a robot dog), it's hard to keep it all straight, eh? Here's a Doctor Who Timeline Infographic to help.

Video: THE STORY OF DOCTOR WHO

For the casual viewer of  the long-running BBC TV show, THE STORY OF DOCTOR WHO (2003) is an hour long documentary on what went on before; general information about the previous Doctors, the Daleks, regeneration, how little money the show had and so on. This was upon the occasion of the series' 40th anniversary.

Not sure who the fellow is who does that dead on impersonation of Tom Baker in the beginning of the video. I believe he's the same fellow from this Dead Ringers parody below:

Video: DOCTOR WHO: "Death is the Only Answer"

Seems that some kids at a school in Basingstoke wrote a DOCTOR WHO mini-episode.

Take a look at their faces as the DW production team, which has come to their school, shows them the finished product. There are a few surprises, too.

In Britain, DOCTOR WHO is a children's show that has been part of the fabric of growing up since 1963.I can only imagine what it was like for these elementary school kids to have been part of the show.

And here's the actual show.

Fun, and there's a fez involved, so that's, of course, very cool.

On TCM Tonight: William Hartnell in CARRY ON SERGEANT

A pre-DOCTOR WHO William Hartnell (he's the sergeant; that's him with the big head yelling the title in the above poster) stars in CARRY ON SERGEANT (1959) on Turner Classic Movies tonight at 8pm EST.

Here's the trailer:

It's the first of the "CARRY ON" series of movies, which would continue through the 1970s. More about all this at the Taste Me You Will See blog, which is where I nicked the clip below from:

A brief prequel to the upcoming August 27th DOCTOR WHO episode with the attention-getting title of "Let's Kill Hitler." No spoilers here and it runs less than 2 minutes -- but unless you saw the previous episodes, there's no context.

TORCHWOOD: MIRACLE DAY New Trailer

Here's the first trailer to show us some of the cast and, of course, the new location for this summer's TORCHWOOD series. Like DOCTOR WHO, TORCHWOOD is visiting the United States. More than a visit, it looks like most of the new series, a 10 part arc, will play out entirely in the States. Hope I'm wrong, since it's been set in Wales since its inception. Being proudly Welsh (see the last scene in the trailer) is part of the fabric of the show.

The premise is, as many of creator Davies' ideas, a fascinating one. OK, so you may have seen the idea before (think THE DEVIL AND DANIEL WEBSTER) but I'll watch Davies' take for sure.
