Via Spaceflight 101: This stunning, well produced video from JPL dramatizes what will be happening tonight when the manned Mars mission is scheduled to land.
I have just watched this once and am going to watch it again. Fascinating that all of this has to happen during a virtual communications blackout. (It takes 7 minutes for a signal to travel from Mars to the Earth hence the video's title: "Curiosity: 7 minutes of Terror.") This is fantastic stuff to look at and reminded me immediately of being a little kid in Kansas and watching Apollo 11 land on the moon with my Dad.
Much more at the Spaceflight 101 link above.
UPDATE: Curiosity successfully landed on Mars.
