He raised this money when he was threatened with a lawsuit. (See "I Stole Your Cartoons and Now I'm Suing You.") The suit has been withdrawn and he says he will keep his promise to give away the money that was given to him by his supporters.
The NBC Today Web site updates us with Cartoonist keeps odd promise to Internet, withdraws $211,223.04. Writer Rosa Golijan succinctly reports on the odd history of the lawsuit and, what appears to be for now, a very large silver lining.
